We’ve enjoyed being on Substack for almost ONE WHOLE YEAR, and in that time we’ve created a cozy community by streamlining our content whims straight to your inbox. THANK YOU FOR SUBSCRIBING!
We are considering shifting monetized content we create to a more agnostic site we create outside of this Substack. If you missed all that Substack drama, congratulations! God I envy you. Because it was boring, disappointing and predictable!
Anywhoozles! We’ll stay sharing with you on Substack through this Weekend Water page any news (for free, baby!) But if we shimmy over to a different pod host, we will have to move our precious STAY F. HOMEKINS podcast and all of its satellite type episodes we record. That said, the shift should be quite seamless to you (but a new WEEKENDWATER+ landing page for the show would exist).
Some of you already pay to listen to the EXTRA stuff and we’re so thrilled and grateful you partake. You keep us going and give us a little space for staying the f home in order to record stuff on occasion outside of our other soul crushing vocational pursuits! The new site uses your payment info you’ve already used to buy from us, so you wouldn’t have to do anything with that. It even will let us break shows out into more niche categories (like our AND JUST LIKE THAT watchers might not be Watch-along listeners and we’re even considering a Vanderpump check-in as the new season approaches! Yes! We’re that nutso!)
SO in the interest of knowing if you’ll roll with any minor “subscription” tier shifts should we shimmy our podcast feeds out of Substack’s wallet, I wanted to take your temperature on if you’d be willing to support a WeekendWater+ landing page outside of this Substack? There’s a poll to participate and comments are open. I don’t have any opinion on other artists who use Substack to earn. I love the product and think it gives creators excellent tools.
I still subscribe to premium pages by respected voices on here and will continue to. Supporting individuals doing excellent work is necessary and noble no matter where they hit “send.”
There were multiple factors that have led STAY F. HOMEKINS to this juncture - one of which is we’re primarily a podcast. Substack only recently started catering to podcasters and has evolved into an awkward fit for us as they take on a different social media style existence. We moved here specifically to avoid all that algorithmic stuff and public-square-free-for-all irritant quality. I still use social media (why?? 😭😂) but am looking to detach our podcast from earning for yet another tone-deaf-tech-owner-weirdo-dude-bro.
Our free episodes that come out on the second Friday of the month would require no action from you. The paid offerings would have a new RSS feed (that is podcast-speak for clicking on those episodes so they populate in your podcast player!) and ALLLL the podcast episodes would be found on a WeekendWater+ site instead of this publication, which, if I’m honest, I think a lot of listeners didn’t even KNOW about the podcast section of this publication anyway- they just clicked to subscribe and awaited new episodes in their preferred podcast players!
