Thinking of you guys. Please keep up the podcasts, my girlfriend and I are watching Southern Charms and really appreciate the recaps. She bought me a "Yaaaaaalll" sweatshirt for Christmas and it looks great! Landman sounds like a modern times Bonanza. Maybe I'll suggest it to Dalton Wilcox.
glad the F. Homekins' have stayed safe, stayed sane, and stayed strong this week.. living in Hollywood, Wednesday night was . . . not fun but god bless LAFD and all the copter pilots who doused that shit out quick.
having lived with Crohn's disease for 25 years, the secret i eventually found to colonoscopy prep: MiraLAX + lemon-lime Gatorade. don't mess with any of the Fleet Phospho-Soda liquid solutions if you can, in my experience. YUKKO also, it used to be much worse.
and looking forward to seeing JHT treading the boards at the Elysian next week in Let's Talk, with Munderscore Blasucci. Maria grew up in the Palisades so I know the fires have been weighing especially hard on her.
Thank you for sharing yourselves with us. Very glad to know (as of Friday) you are safe and managing this terrible and scary experience. Stay safe, ya’ll. Deeply appreciate you.
Second - the prep stuff: I had a colonoscopy a few years back and I did the split prep and was also at the same time several weeks off my chronic reflux meds. I had actually downed the first bottle fine and didn’t even think it tasted that bad at all and even the… you know … effects of it weren’t that horrible because well that’s sort of what I was going in to be looked at anyways. Well over night my untreated reflux started to flare up in combination with the prep that when I got to the next part of it I literally couldn’t get it down. I was trying but I would just like throw some of it back up. I ended up only doing like half of the bottle over probably another three hours of just trying to drink it. I was calling my mom crying at like 4 am and she was like “you just have to try” but I couldn’t get it down for the life of me. When I ended up going in I told them I couldn’t finish the bottle but was basically uh, how does Scientology put it … going clear? … at that point (and I’m still also now a crying mess because I didn’t sleep and it’s procedure go time) and the nurses were SO mean to me because I didn’t fully finish drinking that awful stuff. All this to say - I will never ever do a split prep again. And I’m never going to do that without being on some sort of heartburn medication again (if they’ll let me) because I think that really amplified it all for me. Paul, I really have to imagine your experience was better because at least you weren’t all alone 🤣
Third, if you need any info about it the people on Big Brother for Traitors purposes, let me know - unfortunately I’m a huge fan of the show and can confirm it is still in fact a thing. I like 2/3 of the people from BB on this season a whole hell of a lot and I hope you guys do too!!
Like many others have expressed in these comments, I was relieved to hear that you’re safe and doing as well as you can under the circumstances. You both bring so much light into our lives with your podcast and I hope that in some way, our comments, or just our presence out here, can bring some light into your lives right now. Your podcast got me through the pandemic (and the tragic losses I experienced of family and friends), so I hope that during this time of fear and loss you can gain some comfort from knowing that we support you, and all Angelenos, right now. We can’t all podcast back to you, but we can at least let you know that we’re here and on your side. 🩷
Thank you for getting the episode up. We would have fully understood not doing one until the emergencies was over. I'm thinking of you both as well as the good people of Los Angeles who did nothing wrong. LA is coming together as so many communities have dealt with extreme climate disasters for 20+ years. Be safe.
Thank you for the show - it was a welcome distraction from all that’s going on here in our burning town. And once I got over the disappointment I felt when I discovered that Landman is not a show about a superhero who can manipulate dirt with his mind, I too found it very enjoyable. 😉
It was really good to hear from you two at this time, thank you! (And you have nothing to feel bad about here, it was a fine podcast, and of course nobody expects you to be in a normal cheerful mood.) Also: Watch the Traitors UK, where the normal people are! I can't with the reality-stars version.
Just started this Traitors. Sandoval has already gone twice to look at his own picture on the wall. Ew. I only know him from your recaps, never saw him before. Confusingly unattractive. 😂
I'm so happy to know you're okay. I'm watching from the east coat in horror, wishing there was more I could do.
Also, I dipped into Octavia Butler for the first time this summer and really loved her world-building. Post-apocalyptic fiction hasn't always been my thing, but I'm finding that I much prefer it when it's written by a woman.
I’m appalled that the online gambling site Polymarket is offering bets on when the Palisades fire will be fully contained and the extent of the damage. A pox on the house of any idiot that places bets on tragedy!
Keeping you in my thoughts & hope you two continue to be safe.
If you are still in your home, this is a good time to go around and take pics of everything. Open drawers, closets, cupboards - everything! We had a major flood once & pictures were so helpful to deal with the ins.

Janie and Paul, I am so glad to hear you are both safe. You have been in my thoughts. Stay safe, stay strong. No reply necessary 🙂

We ARE watching Landman! It’s great. 😊

I am so relieved to hear that you all are safe for the time being. I have thought of you everyday since the fires began.
So glad you guys are ok! ❤️
