Woop woop, nothing better for a drizzly London morning. So excited that PFT’s doing something on dropout - I’m a Dimension 20 fan and always think the cast would be great on The Neighborhood Listen. Ally was fantastic, I’d love Brennan to turn up in Dignity Falls too!

Ooh if you want a hallmark movie to watch along I humbly submit what I believe is the reigning least gay movie on Two Old Queens, Double Holiday...

I have to take thyroid medicine in the middle of the night too. I leave my pill on my sink for when I get up to go to the bathroom. Also, when I was a sub for a 2nd grade class, a dental hygienist said that you aren't supposed to rinse the toothpaste after you brush your teeth.

I also mostly dislike gift exchanging so we started the Christmas gift game in my family. Everyone buys themselves a gift, it’s kept secret who bought what and then the gifts get opened or revealed and we all guess who bought what. You need someone who isn’t participating to help coordinate and make sure the gifts stay secret. We’ve always had one of the kids do this.

You still get to learn a lot about your family. Last year my sister got herself a Moscow mule kit. I didn’t even know she drank!

Woke up to this this morning, so we’ll save it for the cocktail hour later, but also, woke up to this PFT adjacent thing (we’re all friends of Threedom, right?):

Hey! Fred Schneider! What aare you doing? “I’m appearing on Wait, Wait, Don’t Tell Me today!”

We bought our first fake tree ever this year. Our agreement is that we can always go get the real tree in future years or use the fake. December is a hard month and it’s nice to have the easy path available.

I am with Paul on being sick of present receiving specifically.

I love the flexibility this affords.

We were real Christmas tree absolutists for forever. But a few years ago, for various reasons, it made sense to try a fake (real-looking) tree, which we did with reservations. It turned out to be the best decision ever, and every year when we get it out, we always comment on how we can't believe we spent so much time and energy on the real tree rigamarole.

This makes so much sense! We’d have a tree up RIGHT NOW if we owned a fake one to throw up in the window. But we’ve deprived ourselves of a tree option by being absolutists.

King of Christmas makes excellent pre-lit, gorgeous trees!

If you have a toothpaste with flouride , that's when you aren't supposed to rinse! I just learned about it this year when I had to purchase said toothpaste, so maybe that's what happened with the tiktoker, and they just misunderstood the instructions?

I read somewhere that Elon Musk is a ketamine user (abuser). It causes psychosis after a certain point.

Janie, you got me started on my Twinkly obsession back in the early days of SFH. We got a Balsam Hill Twinkly tree a couple years ago and it is amazing. Also, it came with “fluffing gloves” you use when setting it up to fluff out the branches.

Late to the party but...we are a two tree family. We have the fake tree that goes up as soon as we (my wife) wants. Usually Thanksgiving weekend and it is in the living room. And then sometimes we will get a real tree for the upstairs loft closer to Christmas -- and decorate that with more traditional home made decorations. Now that we are empty nesters -- we may be a THREE tree house as we got a cheap flocked artificial tree from Home Depot for the front window. Yeah. We got Christmas covered and a house large enough to accommodate. (Thank you Northern LA Suburbs!)

PS -- got my tickets to the Dec 17 Varietopis and taking my daughter this time. See y'all there.

My large family does a grabbag/secret santa gift exchange for the adults. I started opting out a few years ago and never looked back. Instead, I just get gifts for the kiddos. I get to be a co-conspirator/assistant for my mom’s shopping and can help others pass messages without revealing who has whom. I buy something for myself I wouldn’t ordinarily get (this year is a set of Le Creuset petite cocettes I’d been eying) and don’t end up with stuff kind of like what I want but not quite. Bliss.
