You asked for first time listeners to comment here. Which meant figuring out where here is, signing up and verifying, installing an app and verifying, and then verifying my phone number, and telling Substack what topics I'm interested in. I just wanted something to listen to when I washed some dishes! But I really am a fan of Paul, having enjoyed his wit on many a JoCo Cruise. So, I'm happy to be here, no matter how grumpy I may seem. :)
Now halfway through podcast. You all are so much fun! Spouse and I caught the Sugarcubes' 25 year reunion concert in Reykjavik in 2006. We must not have gone to the right restaurants, though, as we failed to run into anyone we even THOUGHT might be famous, although I'm pretty sure I spied the hot dog shack that Anthony Bourdain ate at.
First time listener here as well! We were also on the cruise, and Paul was one of the biggest highlights. Once we found out JoCo would be out of commission for a few days, I specifically was hoping Paul would be asked to sub for Jonathan for the TMBG Q&A, so that was wish fulfillment when it was announced. (I even got to ask a question, I was the guy from the TMBG wiki!) We also had identical experiences on the water taxi to/from the boardwalk at Sint Maarten, from the realization about the dude lip syncing to the song choices.
Janie, wishing you a speedy recovery! Felt in my BONES the frustration of having to advocate for proper medical treatment. I was reminded of March 2020, when I was sicker than I've ever been in my life but you basically had to be Tom Hanks or an NBA player to get a COVID test. Went to urgent care and was asked if I'd tried Tylenol for the horrible pain in my neck.
This past summer my wife and I visited Iceland and actually did run into Bjork! We were looking for a place for dinner and she was just DJing in a record store. Like ya do in Iceland.
You said you’d love to hear from any first time listeners, so here I am, in all my glory, your Commander in Tweet, his excellency Donald J. Trump. I heard from Kash Patel that there is a radical leftist lunatic couple in La La Land, who hosts a monthly podcast that was birthed in a Wuhan lab, but I had to hear it for myself. I’m not surprised to find out that “Complanie Janie” is a drug addict, and that PFT is a less than average person, who is trying too hard to be funny, and NEVER CAN BE!! All you do is poison the country with your elitist traitorous SAG communist NONSENSE. The only thing I half-liked was the picture of “Complanie Janie” taping the show. It reminds me of one of our GREAT AMERICAN PATRIOT, Elon Musk’s cars - Everything's computer!!!
I have to go now and make love to Melania (if I can find her), and MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!! But you can expect a visit from ICE very shortly. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain!*
* Just so there’s no confusion and so anyone reading this comment doesn’t misunderstand, these remarks were made with tongue thoroughly tucked in cheek. Just having a bit of fun, but I know how often sarcasm can be mistaken for sincerity. I love Janie and Paul, and this podcast is a wonderful island in the crazy stream of life we currently live in.
How cool PFT got to interview TMBG! My experience discovering them was identical to Paul's, and they're still my favorite band. Now I'll try to find the recording of the interview, thanks for sharing that story!
Paul was robbed on @After Midnight!
And it was always fun to watch him. I hope he enjoyed doing it as much as it seemed he did.

Awww thank you. When we visited Iceland in 2015 we did extensive research!
This was actually my first listen as well. But I love love love Paul on Threedom, so I figured I would love this too.
First time listener. Beware the ides of March!
Hahah

That’s so insane. I don’t understand any gatekeeping with medical stuff??? Like, why.
Janie did the doctors test you for strep? Your description of the symptoms sounds exactly like it to me, someone who gets strep every couple of years.
Unfortunately, twice. But I’m going back to the doctor today. Hurts so much to swallow😿
Hope you feel better, Janie.

What a really cool memory!!
